Peppermint Candy

THE PEPPERMINT AFGHAN

Have you ever been challenged by a friend.  You know what I mean.  The whole “bet you could do this if you REALLY wanted to” scenario.  Well, this happened to me recently.  I have a very good friend, who when strolling through Pinterest one day, came across an afghan that she liked.   Not any regular Afghan, mind you.  It was the PEPPERMINT AFGHAN!

Never being one to back down from a challenge, I proceeded to go shopping.

The Supplies

Not long after this yummy delivery, I got started.  Now, I’ve been crocheting for 30 some odd years and have never had to consult a video tutorial to get started…  Until now.  Thank you Mikey from The Crochet Crowd for your Awesome YouTube Tutorial on how do conquer the dreaded Interlocking Crochet Stitch!  Consider it Conquered.

The Beginning

And I was off to the races!

The Motifs

Once all of the motifs were made – there were a lot of them – I proceeded to sew those little suckers together.

Almost There

I won’t tell you how many little ends I had to sit, patiently, and sew in.  Geez, I hope they don’t unravel!

Peppermint Afghan

And Voila!  Challenge Accepted and Met.  The completed afghan.  I LOVE the way this looks and using the RedHeart Soft yarns really makes it warm and cozy.  If you’re up to a challenge you can find the free pattern on the Redheart.com website or just click here.

As for me, my girls decided they would also like to challenge me to complete TWO MORE of these beauties.  No problem :)  I’m (almost) feelin’ it.
